Encouraging more public input on Council agenda items and monthly open forums

Regular updates on decisions and votes through active participation in social media and being easily available to talk to you

Support for Saanich to explore the benefits and challenges of amalgamation through a Citizens’ Assembly so that the issue can be understood and either advanced or abandoned

I brought forward a report on election signs that eventually led to the elimination of 4’ by 8’ election signs. (I proposed to see a maximum sign size of 2’ x 2’ but Council chose the middle ground)

Growing Saanich’s commercial tax ratio (currently 23% of revenues from property taxes) grow to 30% with smart development and to take the pressure off of property owners

Smart Development

With the support of the Healthy Saanich Committee put forward the requirement for inclusionary zoning that requires elements of affordability in all multi-unit developments

I worked to see development applications coming to Saanich solar-ready and to be fully wired for EV charging I brought forward motions to create micro living units and to see an increase in apartment heights in appropriate locations

Nature Spaces

Helped ensure that the Kings Road Nature Space and the Mountain Road parks were saved from development and preserved as parkland

I helped shape these initiatives:

• Supported the creation of a Memorandum of Understanding between the W̱SÁNEĆ Leadership Council and the District of Saanich to further reconciliation and respectful partnerships

• Supported a Public Art mural project pilot program

• Supported developing inclusionary zoning guidelines to provide more affordable housing in Saanich

• Supported expediting our Active Transportation Plan

• Supported the creation of an economic development strategy to help grow our commercial tax base

• Supported an update to our Climate Action plan to become more environmentally sustainable

• Advocated to improvements in our Royal Oak Fire Hall and a new Saanich Public Works yard

• Supported a strategic review of our Official Community Plan
